Bareilly: Three children died while bathing in a pond in Bareilly’s Tilmas village on Sunday, while a fourth managed to survive.
The four kids from the same area had gone to a roadside pond, about 1km from their village, around 3pm. Three of them -- Trivendra, 10, Ansh, 8 and Ayush, 9 -- ventured into a deeper part of the pond and drowned. Trivendra’s brother,
Dev, 8, managed to come out and raised an alarm.
Hearing the commotion, the pond’s owner,
Raju, rushed to the spot and pulled the children out. Ayush and Ansh were found dead, while Trivendra was taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead.
Bareilly SSP Anurag Arya said, “On receiving information, the SHO of Meerganj, along with police personnel, reached the spot and conducted an inquiry. All the children were from farming families. Their families have refused postmortem.”
